Starting a Relationship With God

ALL HAVE SINNED
The Bible reveals that God is the Creator of all life, and everything He created was good (Genesis 1). Unfortunately, we see early on in the Bible that the first humans rebelled against God and sinned against Him (Genesis 3). Because of this horrible mistake, sin has infected every single person who has ever lived, and each of us has been born into sin (Ephesians 2:1-3).  Therefore, all of us naturally sin and rebel against God.

SIN LEADS TO DEATH
The Bible says where there is sin, there will always be death (Romans 5:12). Since God is the author of life, anyone who turns away from Him will naturally die (Romans 6:23). Death involves physical and eternal separation from God (Genesis 2:17 & 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9). Our sin keeps us away from God, and the bad news is we don’t have what it takes to overcome our sin.

JESUS OFFERS US HOPE
But the wonderful news of the gospel is that God has provided a way for us to be forgiven of all of our sins and to receive eternal life! The Bible says God is patient and merciful, and He wants everyone to be given an opportunity to know Him and receive eternal life (2 Peter 3:9).  God dealt bountifully with our sins by sending His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to take our place and live the perfect life we could not live and to die a death that we all deserved (Romans 5:6-8).  The greatest news in the world is that Jesus didn’t stay dead but instead rose from the grave after 3 days! In doing so, He demonstrated that He has conquered sin and death, and He will do the same for all who will trust in Him (1 Corinthians 15:55-57).

RESTORATION COMES THROUGH FAITH
God offers the completely free gift of eternal life for anyone who will trust in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16).  God’s gift of eternal life is an act of grace, meaning it’s something we don’t deserve and something we can’t earn.  We receive this gift by faith alone in what Jesus Christ has done on our behalf. If you will believe in Jesus and trust that He died for your sins and rose from the dead, then you will be forgiven of your sins and granted eternal life (Romans 10:9).
