Alongside Mr. Bob Tsinnie (native Navajo, and a Navajo public school administrator), the Wayside Arizona Team is a fellowship of around thirty high school, college, single/married adults, and families. The team is focused on God’s Word, discipleship, and demonstrating Christ’s redeeming love to approximately 60 Navajo campers, ages 8 to 13. The camp is El Nathan Christian Camp in Flagstaff, Arizona (we drive there and back, with a hotel stay, each way). With six planning meetings (March thru June), the team will connect, pray, plan, organize, and outfit the entire ‘experience’ for a week-long ‘VBS-like’ summer camp. Do know, as counselors, we’re with campers 24/7 (including night-time) from Monday noon to Friday noon. During the 10-day trip, the team is sharing, loving, leading, laughing, bowling, swimming, playing games, eating, sleeping, worshiping, etc. – all alongside each other and the Navajo campers. Strategic objectives for ALL involved are to return at peace with God and others, along with a solid sense of direction and purpose for our lives – all guided by the Holy Spirit, and founded on God’s Word.
Total trip cost:
- Individuals (15 to 21): $900
- Individuals (22 and over): $1400
- Families (min. 2 people ages 15 and up) $1400 base + $400 per person (to a max $2,500 per family)
*children must be a minimum of 10 years old to go on the trip.
