2022 Annual Report

WORSHIP MINISTRIES This past year brought changes to the Worship Ministry at Wayside with José Irizarry assuming leadership for both services at the 410 Campus and Danielle Meza starting as the Coordinator for Worship Ministries. The ministry goal is for the community at Wayside to sing their theology, through songs that glorify God and edify the believer. The Contemporary Service has seen the most significant growth in volunteer participation, with most Sundays featuring a worship team made up entirely of Waysiders. These volunteers represent different demographics from within our congregation (college students, singles, etc.) making our worship team a better reflection of the body at Wayside. In the Blended Service, we continue to have the worship band, with regular participation of our talented, multi-generational Wayside orchestra musicians (string and wind instruments). We are happy to be able to keep alive the tradition of singing the Hallelujah Chorus together as a congregation on Easter Sunday. This year we extended that to include the congregation gathered at 11:00 am and included the participation of the Wayside Orchestra. Good Friday featured a novel ensemble designed to complement the tone of the service. The Worship Ministry and its volunteers regularly support other ministries at Wayside. We continue to provide music for memorial services. Singers from the Contemporary worship team led music at retreats for the Student Ministries and the Men’s Ministry. We produced piano recordings for the Women’s Ministry video devotionals. Members of the Contemporary worship team participated in the Women’s Ministry Night of Worship. Beyond music, the Worship Ministry is tasked with coordinating many of the details that go into running weekly services successfully. The ministry keeps Wayside in compliance with copyright laws, obtaining licenses for music performance, and managing subscriptions to the services needed to produce the music. In addition, we continue to produce in-house music arrangements and recordings that serve as resources for musicians to prepare for worship. We seek to consistently give God and the body at Wayside our very best. For this reason, the Worship Ministry holds a weekly meeting with the Media and Communications ministries and a member of the Pastoral Team to coordinate all aspects of the upcoming Sunday services and discuss opportunities to improve from the Sunday before. Our deepest desire is for Wayside to have a congregation that SINGS! TOur volunteers selflessly invest hours each week preparing themselves to play and sing with excellence. We all pray weekly for the Holy Spirit to move in each and every one of you until loud praises pour out in song. Nothing is sweeter to all the volunteers of the worship team than to be drowned out by the congregation singing. We appreciate your continued prayers. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” (Ps. 150:6) José Irizarry, Associate Director of Worship
