2022 Annual Report

COMMUNITY MINISTRIES Wayside Chapel seeks to guide every member into a smaller, deeper community within our greater community as a local church body. We believe that authentic and meaningful relationships within the context of these smaller communities leads to spiritual change so we can all grow to know and be more like Jesus while helping others do the same. These smaller communities offer members a place to connect in meaningful ways and develop relationships (Wayside Chapel is a community), grow together as disciples of Jesus by studying and practicing the Word together (rooted in the Word, reproducing Christ followers), and engage with others in God’s work in the world by serving together or encouraging one another as each goes out (reaching out to the world, reproducing Christ followers). Sunday Studies This last year, we had 15 Sunday Studies that met weekly at 8 am, 9:15 am and 11 am. Some groups are categorized by life stage while others are made up of mixed ages and stages. We averaged approximately 282 weekly members across our Sunday Studies in the last twelve months. Life Groups We had 26 life groups that met in the fall of 2021, and 22 groups continued to meet in the spring. Life groups also vary as some are categorized by life stage while others are mixed. Most groups had approximately 8-12 individuals attending. Many groups are taking a break over the summer, and we hope to launch new groups in the fall and provide greater support for current groups. Equipping Classes Four different equipping classes met this last year: 1) Premarital class for couples thinking about, planning for, or recently entered into marriage; 2) re|engage class for married couples seeking to reconnect with their spouses, reignite, or resurrect their marriages; 3) Financial Peace University for anyone who wants to learn to steward their finances through practical and biblical instruction; and 4) Fundamentals of the Faith class for new believers, Christians who have never had a systematic study of the fundamentals of faith, and for those who want to be equipped to lead others through the study. We have a great many faithful men and women leading these smaller communities, and we invite you to join in with us in this upcoming year. Steven Villacin, Community Pastor
