Harvesting Memories: A Dementia Caregiver Workshop
Join Dr. Cate McCarty for an interactive workshop looking at different types of dementia, the stages of the disease process, and best practices for creating quality of life for both the person living with dementia and their care partners. Participants will:
- Apply academic dementia staging tools to determine cognitive processing stage and age.
- Practice Montessori strategies to adapt activities to support persons living with dementia- providing a prepared environment, incorporating cues and memory supports.
- Create a personalized care strategy to provide meaningful interaction based on the person’s likes, dislikes, and personal history.
Attendees will receive a copy of Dr. Cate’s Harvesting Holiday Memories workbook to take home. Harvesting Holiday Memories provides practical guidance and memory engagement ideas to improve any fall or winter holiday.
Light refreshments will be provided.
