We will be headed to the central jungles of Peru this fall to work with our mission partners, Carlos and Meredith Block and their ministry to the Yanesha people. Some of the Yanesha communities are so remote they can only be reached by foot. The average income per household is less than $50 a month creating a great physical need. The Blocks, along with bi-vocational Yanesha pastors, have been working together to strengthen the local church and find ways to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the Yanesha people in ways that will be helpful and not have a negative impact. Areas of this ministry include theological and ministry training, Community Health Education training, construction of a training center with a focus on youth outreach, clean water solutions with Engineers Without Borders, youth outreach including English and religion classes and after-school programs, and children’s and women’s ministry training.
The Yanesha people are a resilient and hospitable community which is a reminder of how we are all working together to build the church around the world with Christ as our head. We will be supporting the long term goal to see an indigenous movement of healthy churches that result in the Gospel being shared and lives being transformed among the Yanesha people. They will be assisting with the construction of the training center along with evangelism and outreach.
$200 deposit counts towards total trip cost of $2,250.
