KidZONE Classes

The nursery is a cooperative effort of paid childcare workers assisted by parents and volunteers. Our goal is to provide a loving, secure environment for children birth – 24 months. Children must be 2-years-old by September 1 in order to move into our preschool ministry.

Classes are available on Sunday mornings during the worship services. For parents desiring to take their newborns to the church service, there is a family needs room in the rear of the Worship Center on both campuses. Please note that these rooms are not completely sound-proof.

Our pre-school classes are designed for children age 2 (as of September 1) through pre-kindergarten. Our aim is to help children develop a positive, receptive attitude toward God, the Bible, and church through stories, games, crafts, and music.

Classes are available on Sundays during the worship services. Pre-schoolers will experience Sunday school in a fun meaningful way through a rotation model using Gospel Light’s pre-school Sunday school curriculum.

Each age group will be assigned a “Shepherd” who will be with them throughout the morning as they rotate through “Bible Builders,” “Praise and Prayer,” playground, and classroom activities.

The elementary classes are separated by grade (kinder – 5th) with age-appropriate, relevant curriculum. Each class has staff and teachers dedicated to presenting God’s plan of salvation through Christ, helping children develop skills in prayer and Bible reading, encouraging children to worship, and developing a missional and service-focused mindset.

Classes are available on Sunday mornings during the worship services.

For Parents

Our aim is to help each family feel secure entrusting us with their children in a safe, nurturing environment. If you still have additional questions, please email KidZONE@waysidechapel.org or call 210.344.1203 so that we can help.

On your first visit, please come to the KidZONE Check-in. A KidZONE Check-in volunteer will ask you to fill out a registration form that provides us with important information about your child. (If you have registered online beforehand, you will not have to fill out the form, but you should still go to the KidZONE Check-in.) You will then be directed to the classroom where you will sign your child into class.
Parents will receive a security tag when they check-in at the KidZONE Check-in (specifically for guests) or one of the electronic check-in stations. When parents return to pick up their child, they will need to show the security tag.

4th and 5th graders can check themselves in and be dismissed without a parent as long as the appropriate permission form has been signed by a parent.

If a parent is needed while their child is in KidZONE, a KidZONE leader will text or call the parent.

Parents of children in grades K – 3 must drop off and pick up their children at the child’s assigned classroom. 4th and 5th graders can sign themselves in and be dismissed without a parent as long as the parent has signed a consent form.
Wayside’s Great Expectations Ministry exists to encourage parents from pregnancy or plans to adopt through the time of baby dedication.

The Great Expectations Ministry provides encouragement from other moms and dads, knowledge that someone is praying specifically for you and your baby, staff to assist you in planning for a baby dedication, and “My First Bible” when your baby is dedicated.

Register here.

Child dedications are available for parents who wish to make a public commitment to raise their child to know God with the hope that the children might one day trust in Christ as their Savior. Wayside Chapel’s desire is to come alongside parents with prayer and encouragement as they raise their child to love the Lord.
