Report on goSERVE Outreach

What was goSERVE?
The idea behind our goSERVE events is to provide a tangible way to express the love of Christ to our community through fun, family friendly service projects.
This goSERVE was designed to be a way for you, your children, small group or ABF class to bless and encourage our Wayside Chapel neighbors through the simple act of giving away a summer “Home Helps” bag. This included an energy efficient light bulb, a smoke alarm replacement battery, and other small helps for the home. No sales, no promotions, just a simple gift and a friendly smile from a neighbor to build upon our rapport.
Over 60 of us went out in small groups and delivered these simple gifts in a non-threatening manner to homes in small designated areas. As we prayed for those we served, we saw the Lord open hearts and lead us to spiritual conversations.
We didn't know how we would be received, who we would meet, what doors God might open and the impact we might have. However, members of our team stepped out of their comfort zones, risked the unknown and went out to express the love of Christ through a simple act of kindness. Turns out, It wasn't the gift bag, it was the contact; being available to listen, care and connect.
Join us for our next goSERVE outreach!
