Vista Community Church
James and Elizabeth Mendoza
James Mendoza is the church planter of Vista Community Church. He has served as an intern youth worker at Denton Bible Church in Dallas and as Pastor of Youth and Outreach for Grace Bible Church in Laredo, Texas. He later completed his seminary training at a Dallas Theological Seminary extension site in San Antonio which is where he sensed God calling him to plant a church.
James was approved as a church planter through the Evangelical Free Church of America and moved to San Antonio to follow his dream. Currently, James is partnering with Wayside Chapel and other churches in the Texas-Oklahoma EFCA district to plant this church.
The Area
Jesus said in John 4:35 “I tell you open your eyes and look! The fields are ripe for harvest.”
The Northwest part of San Antonio is the fastest growing part of the city and the entire county. City Council women, Delicia Herrera, projected a growth of 70,000-90,000 new homes and businesses to be built over the next five years in this area. The new neighborhoods in these suburbs are bringing young families from all walks of life. Young military families have transferred from all over the United States and are now living in this are because of their close proximity to Lackland Air Force Base.
There are also young families native to San Antonio moving from the Southside. Both of these groups come with one goal in mind; a search of greater future for their families. They may be making progress chasing the American dream, but without Christ they have no true hope or fulfillment. We believe this community is a good place to begin a new work for the Kingdom and we are preparing to do our part in the process.
You Can Take Part
Vista Community Church is a contemporary church starting in the Sea World area and are excited you are interested in us. Our desire is to be a “real church for real people” so please come and be real not fake. We want to get to know the real you. A service may look something like this: Brief announcements, an opening prayer, time of praise with a contemporary flavor, message from the Bible that is relevant for life change, and celebration of the Lord’s supper.
We can’t do this on our own. To accomplish this big dream we are trusting in our BIG GOD to raise up a dream team. Will you commit to pray for us? If you would like more information on how you can join this new work contact me, Pastor James, at vistacc@satx.rr.com or visit our website at www.vistacc.net.
