We have a method to our madness, and here it is.  Current volunteers serve on an every 3rd week basis, and are assigned a "color" Green, Red, or Blue. So it's easy to see when you're on. And you'll also get a reminder e-mail telling you when it's your turn. Here's the color coded calendar:

Q&A

QWhat’s the commitment for volunteering in the Tech Depo?

A:  We have a rotation calendar that will allow our volunteers to serve only 1 or 2 times a month.  Overall, we’re very flexible.

QI don’t even know how to program my VCR.  How complicated is this stuff?

A:  In most cases, the equipment isn’t all that hard to operate.  We have worked hard to streamline and make it user friendly.  In most cases the equipment is easier to learn than your VCR at home.  We have a training program that teaches all of our volunteers how to operate the equipment, even what to do when things go wrong. =) So honestly, the hardest part is knowing what’s coming up next and making/handling last minute changes.  Flexibility is a plus!

Q: Are you able to worship while running Tech?

A: Oh yeah…  The down side is that you aren’t with your friends and family during the worship service,….. but before you stop reading, know this: while running tech during a service, you are giving back to God by serving Him.  You are helping to lead people in worship, so you really have a very similar job to those guys and gals on stage.  You are allowing the Spirit to use you to lead others to Him… without all that hassle of looking pretty and standing in front of lots of people. =)

Q:  What are the “perks?”

A:  Worship experience.  By serving God during worship, you’re allowing the Spirit to use you. We usually have a snack or treats each week… they are good…(non-Sunday school answer)

QAre Internships / Student positions for credit available?

A:  Yes!  We welcome “credit for volunteer work” workers.  We have had several students earn credit for helping us during the weekends.  We have up-to-date equipment.  We can offer students a hands on opportunity to increase their education in the audio and video fields.

If you have any more questions, please e-mail and ask.  I'm open to questions and new ideas.
