As Christians in the second half of life, we trust that God has saved the best for last. We encourage adults 55 and over, to continue growing spiritually and to develop a strong sense of community with others, not only by participating in our regular adult activities and programs, but also by serving at Wayside in a great variety of other church ministries and activities.
- 55 Plus Monthly Luncheons - We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, September through May for lunch and a special program in Fellowship Hall. Cost of lunch:$6.50 - Register now or call (210) 344-1203.
- What's NEW - our Lunch Bunch. We meet each month at a restaurant for fellowship and a meal. Call RaeBeth Barton at 699-9611 for information or to make a reservation.
- 55 Plus Fitness Classes - Tuesdays, from 8:00 - 9:00 am in 111 Ivywood. For more information, contact Lynn at (210) 344-1203 or lynnh@waysidechapel.org.
- Game Nights - Every Thursday at 5:00 pm, we meet in 117 Ivywood for a pot luck supper and games. No need to sign up.
- Nursing Home Services - Wayside 55 Plus members serve by visiting and leading worship services in eight nursing homes in San Antonio, where we minister to hundreds of residents.
- Holiday Outreach - We organize the donation of turkeys and “trimmings” for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for Wayside families experiencing need.
- Seminars - We sponsor several seminars each year on health, financial, legal and spiritual issues that affect adults who are 55 or older.
- Dinners - We sponsor special evenings with dinner and entertainment.
- Day Trips - We organize group day trips to destinations of interest in our area.
Our 55 Plus members are active in the ministries at Wayside Chapel, which includes Bible studies, mentoring, greeting and ushering. They also serve the Wayside community through many Agape Ministries such as Meals on Wheels, Manna Meals and the Funeral Ministry.
